Alanya Has No Choice but Beauty, It’s in its Geography

Alanya is truly one of the most beautiful places in Turkey, and therefore in the world. Alanya is a seaside resort city and district of the Antalya Province, but to say it is on the Mediterranean Coast does not do it justice.

The city actually stretches out into the Mediterranean Sea on a thin land-bank. Obviously that stretch of land is surrounded by great views on three sides, but it doesn’t stop there. In its entirety, (on the land-bank, and on the mainland) Alanya is between the Taurus Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, which means it has great views to the back, and out to the front, and the land-bank has great views on four sides.

With so much beauty, and modern shops, supermarkets and plentiful restaurant variety it is little wonder that Alanya property is among the most popular in Turkey with foreign buyers, or that the city has one of Turkey’s largest expatriate populations.

According to Wikipedia (and outside sources) circa September 2008, Alanya accounted for 30% of foreign property purchases (60% for Antalya as a whole), 17,850 foreigners own property in Alanya, and 9,789 of those are living in the city as expatriates. Of a population of 134,769 that is good going by anyone’s standards, proving that many people who come to Alanya never want to leave again.

In fact the final piece of the puzzle will be fully opened next year; the Gazipasa airport, which should be serving international flights from next year. Currently those flying into Alanya must come via Antalya, which is over an hour away.
