Alanya: a Nice Place to Visit, and I would Want to Live There
I just read a great article in Today’s Zaman, an expat focus article all about Alanya. In the article Indonesian expat TOMOKO AKKUBASU talks about how Alanya is packed with tourists enjoying the hot weather every summer. How the locals all leave for the cooler villages, leaving Alanya to the tourists.
Alanya is one of the most beautiful places in Turkey, and for that reason a higher proportion of the tourists decide to make it their place of residence than elsewhere in Turkey. This is why Alanya has one of the largest expatriate populations in Turkey.
Alanya is predominantly underdeveloped compared to Turkey’s known hotspots like Antalya and Side, but this is all set to change in the next few years, when the Alanya Gazipasa airport comes into full operation.
Another major draw to Alanya property is the low prices. There are very few places where you can buy a luxury two bedroom apartment by the Mediterranean Sea for less than £55,000.
However, it is my personal belief that Alanya’s friendly people are one of the main reasons why people decide to live there, rather than simply having a holiday home. In the article mentioned above, Tomoko talks about all the tourists that they have formed lasting friendships with, simply from them coming into the shop.
All in all, for anyone considering buying a property in Turkey, or an overseas property anywhere in the world that’s warm, Alanya property should definitely be on their shortlist.
